It is my honor to fully support Fire Chief Otto Drozd for the position of 2nd Vice President of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. I have worked with Chief Drozd on several projects, the main project being the NFPA 3000 Standard for Preparedness and Response to Active Shooter/Hostile Events. Chief Drozd spearheaded the effort to have the NFPA form a diverse committee following the tragic Pulse nightclub shooting incident in Orlando. Chief Drozd saw a need to have a broad based technical group prepare a single set of requirements to be used by the whole community approach such as the public (Stop the Bleed), fire departments, EMS, Law enforcement agencies, hospitals, mental health professionals, medical examiners and emergency management. It has been my pleasure to work with him on the NFPA Standard and see his dedication and determination to get the document to come to fruition.

Some years later the Florida Fire Service was fortunate enough to have Chief Drozd join the Florida Fire service again, and he didn’t miss a beat.
